Mr. Kuchava is one of Georgia’s top legal experts in corporate law, corporate governance and crisis management with over 10 years of experience in the field. He has worked with leading private, government and international organizations in Georgia and abroad and the focus of his practice has been corporate, privatization, corporate governance, contract law, corporate finance and project finance.
Before becoming a partner with Eristavi Law Group, Mr. Kuchava was a legal advisor at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and a senior expert in Corporate and Commercial Laws for USAID’s Business Climate Reform Project. While at IFC, he acted as the proxy project manager for the organization’s activities on Crisis Management and Corporate Governance for emerging markets’ companies worldwide.
Mr. Kuchava is the author of a number of changes and amendments to the Georgian Law of Entrepreneurs and the co-author of the Corporate Governance Code for Commercial Banks in Georgia. Mr. Kuchava is also the Associate Professor in Corporate Law and Corporate Governance at the Free University of Tbilisi, Caucasus School of Law and the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA).
Mr. Kuchava has been recognized by several international organizations, including Global Corporate Governance Forum and International Finance Corporation, as the international expert in Corporate Governance. In 2007 and 2010, he was included in IFC’s global roster of the organization’s best employees worldwide. In 2009, Mr. Kuchava was honoured by IFC for his research and publication work.
Mr. Kuchava currently serves as board member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) of Georgia. He has also been appointed CEO of the recently launched Georgian Institute of Directors.
